🏠 The Studio Experience

Is the studio accessible? Yes! Poking Hazard Tattoo is located in a private studio within Strom Coffee that is fully handicap accessible. If you have specific mobility needs, please let me know so I can ensure your arrival is seamless.

What is the environment like? I provide a calm, ego-free, and LGBTQIA2S+ friendly space. Because this is a private, one-on-one studio in Edmonton, you can enjoy a quiet and intimate session without the noise or "audience" of a traditional large shop.

 

📍 Finding the Studio

Where are you located? Poking Hazard Tattoos is located inside Strom Coffee at #7225 104 Street NW, Edmonton, AB.

How do I find the studio once I arrive?

  1. Enter through the main doors of Strom Coffee.

  2. Make yourself comfortable. Grab a coffee or a snack at the front cafe area and have a seat. There is no need to check in with the cafe staff!

  3. AJ will come to meet you. At your scheduled appointment time, AJ will come to the front cafe to greet you personally.

  4. The Walk-Through: AJ will guide you through the cafe and the salon section to reach the quiet, private studio area at the back of the building.

Parking: There is ample street parking along 104th Street and nearby side streets. Please give yourself a few extra minutes to find a spot, as this area of Edmonton can be quite popular!

Step 2: Not sure how your skin will react? With 10 years of professional skincare expertise, I offer a Skin-Informed approach to ensure we choose the best techniques and aftercare for your unique body.

📝 How to Prepare for Your Tattoo

Prepping your skin = better results!

  • ✅ Sleep well – A rested body heals better.

  • ✅ Eat & hydrate – Your skin needs nourishment to take ink well.

  • ✅ Avoid alcohol/blood thinners 24 hours before.

  • ✅ Wear loose clothing – Ensure easy access to the tattoo area.

  • ✅ Moisturize – But skip heavy lotions on the day of your session.

💺 What to Expect at Your Appointment

  • 🖊️ Design Finalization – Choose from at least two options with minor tweaks allowed.

  • 📏 Placement Check – We’ll apply the stencil to ensure a perfect fit for your anatomy.

  • 🪑 Tattooing Begins – Your comfort is a priority; breaks are always allowed, just ask!

  • 🎶 Bring entertainment – Headphones or books are great for longer sessions.

  • 💬 Speak up! – If you need a break or an adjustment, just let me know.

🛡️ How to Protect & Heal Your Tattoo

Grow Your Ink Right! Just like a plant, your fresh tattoo needs the right care to thrive. Water it (kind of), keep it out of direct sun, and for the love of all things green, don’t pick at it!

🌱 Saran Wrap Method (The Greenhouse Effect)

  1. Unwrap Your New Friend (After 2-3 hours) – Time to let it breathe!

  2. Water Gently – Wash with unscented soap & lukewarm water. No pressure-washing!

  3. Pat Dry – Use a fresh paper towel. Think soft soil, not a construction site.

  4. Moisturize – A thin layer of fragrance-free lotion is the perfect fertilizer.

  5. Repeat – Wash & moisturize 1-2 times daily for 2-4 weeks.

🌵 Second Skin Method (The Succulent Treatment)

  1. Leave It On (Min: 24 hours, Max: 7 days) – Your tattoo’s personal little terrarium.

  2. Remove in the Shower – Warm water makes for easy peeling. No yanking!

  3. Wash & Dry – Gentle soap, gentle hands, pat dry.

  4. Moisturize & Nourish – Light lotion = happy healing.

🌞 Golden Rules for a Thriving Tattoo:

  • Sunscreen Forever: After healing, SPF is your tattoo’s best friend to prevent fading.

  • No Picking: You wouldn’t rip leaves off a growing plant; let the skin heal naturally!

📅 Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

  • 🚫 Deposits are non-refundable.

  • 🔄 Rescheduling: Requests must be made at least 72 hours (3 days) in advance and confirmed by AJ for your deposit to transfer. If proper notice isn’t given, your deposit will be forfeited.
